Syrian Security Forces Foil Rocket Attack On Israel, Blame Hezbollah (Photos) Syria’s Interior Ministry said on September 29 it had foiled what it described as a sabotage plot by a cell linked to Hezbollah in the southern governorate of Daraa, the latest in a series of accusations by Damascus against the Lebanese group. In a brief statement carried by state media, the ministry said security forces had dismantled the cell and prevented the planned operation, but did not publicly identify its intended target. Given Daraa’s location near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and the history of attacks launched from southern Syria, Israel appears the most likely target, although the ministry did not explicitly say so.
