šŖš¹ More than 60 Orthodox Christians killed in attacks in Ethiopia's Oromia region More than 60 people were killed in a series of attacks on Christians in the Shirka district of Ethiopia's Oromia region, according to the Holy Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. The church said 20 houses were burned down, while eyewitnesses told BBC Amharic that five of those killed were children. A local official blamed a newly formed rebel coalition, the Alliance for Survival, which includes the Oromo Liberation Army, while the church did not identify those responsible. The Oromia regional government said it would take action against those behind the attacks. The Orthodox Church said it had repeatedly raised concerns over insecurity with authorities, while a July 2026 report by the Ethiopian Human Rights Council said 458 people had been killed in attacks in the area over the previous four years. #Ethiopia šø Source @africaintel
